Strasburg, PA

An Amish buggy trots along Black Horse Rd. East of Strasburg during sunset.

Maryland

More postcards sent by Mary! A Maryland postcard showing the state flag in Black Eyed Susans, which is the state flower.

Balloon Fiesta! New Mexico

Mary always takes and posts pictures of the Balloon Fiesta every year on her Facebook or Website, and so she sent me a postcard of the Balloon Fiesta. This takes place in Albuquerque every year in early October. The reason why this event is always successful are because of the temperatures and the "box" which is a set of predictable wind patterns that can be exploited to navigate the balloons.

Gig Harbor, Seattle, Washington

A view of Gig Harbor with the beautiful Mt. Rainier in the background.

Famous Rockefeller Center at Christmas time. I'd love to ice skate here and see a live taping of SNL :)

US-1300701

Woohoo! I've received a ton of postcards lately, and I've just now had the time to upload them. I'm going to start with the postcards I've received via Postcrossing :)

Colin was kind enough to send me two postcards from Oklahoma!

This is a postcard of Oklahoma's State Tree, The Eastern Redbud. Often referred to as a "native tree with a touch of class", the Eastern Redbud flourishes in neighborhoods as well as growing wild in wooded areas. In early spring, with its spreading branches covered in clusters of purplish pink blossoms, the Eastern Redbud is a breath of fresh air after a long winter.

Chicago

The windy city! I've known two people that have gone to Chicago this year and they have nothing to say but great things about this city. I would really love to visit soon.

Michigan

This is what fall is all about. Ellen writes that Michigan looks like this for the first few weeks off fall, but eventually the leaves fall off and then comes along winter. Thank you Ellen!

Our Colorful Founder

Bryon went to visit the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Nashville and sent me this badass postcard of the man himself "Jasper Newton Daniel" (a.k.a. Jack)

He registered his distillery in 1866, making it the oldest registered distillery in America. I love it!

The Old Man of the Mountain

Audrey from New Hampshire sent me this postcard of The Old Man of the Mountain.
As printed on the postcard:

One of the world's most famous natural profile, it is also called the Great Stone Face. It was immortalized in a short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne and has appeared on a U.S. postage stamp. The face measures 48 feet from chin to forehead.

Audrey wrote that this was New Hampshire's most famous landmark, and sadly fell to pieces on May 3rd, 2003. Reading about this on Wikipedia, I came across this excerpt: Dismay over the collapse was so great that people left flowers at the base of the cliffs in tribute. In 2004, the state legislature considered a proposal to change New Hampshire's state flag to include the profile, an idea that was eventually shelved.

It really is a very interesting postcard.

Little Pine State Park - Pennsylvania

As printed on the back of the card:

"Little Pine State Park is located in one of the most beautiful sections of the Tiadaghton State Forest in the Appalachian Mountains. Little Pine Lake has 3.3 miles of shoreline and 4.2 miles of stream."

I can see myself in a canoe staying in the middle of this lake for a whole day. Thank you Kelli!

Nowhere Wyoming

I received a new batch of postcards today!

Wyoming - Everything is far away except for Hell! I love it. Makes Wyoming seem so inviting. Thanks Mary!!

State map of Mississippi

A postcard of the Magnolia State, I see Elvis.

Thanks Jen!

Coast Redwoods

Another postcard from Miss Mary. I believe you, I can imagine that the picture itself doesn't do justice. I want to run around in those woods, haha.

Arizona

Mary sent me this postcard from Arizona and mentioned the HEAT. 113 degrees! Damn and I thought Panama was an oven.
